The Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival is a non-competitive, annual arts festival dedicated to sharing and nurturing storytelling of the Mixed experience. The Mixed experience refers to interracial and intercultural relationships, transracial and transcultural adoptions, and anyone who identifies as having biracial, multiracial, Hapa or Mixed identity.

Literary Submission

We are seeking literary works addressing the Mixed experience. This includes, but is not limited to: stories of interracial/cultural relationships, transracial/cultural adoption and the exploration of multiracial/cultural identity.

Participants must be available to read from their works during the Festival. Participants are responsible for their own travel, transportation and lodging. The Festival is unable to provide an honorarium.

1) Complete the submission form

2) E-mail a 10-15 page writing sample and a high res jpeg photo of yourself, attached (do not submit your writing or photo in the body of the email) to: mxrootsfest(at)gmail.com with “Literary” and your name in the subject line. Your writing sample should be what you plan to read from at the Festival.
