Following the enormous success of the first Life’s Too Short Short Story Prize, which unearthed nine memorable stories of international standards along with discovering the author Jamil Ahmed whose collection of short stories is Pakistan’s next hot literary property, it’s safe to say that the Pakistani short story is alive and well. One of the most versatile and challenging writing forms, requiring the brevity of concentration and spanning the styles of Saki and Manto to John Cheever and Daniyal Mueenuddin, the short story is what you make it.
The life’s too short Short Story Prize was conceived to reinvigorate this oft-neglected genre in Pakistan. With the increasing success of short story collections in the global publishing market, they are becoming big news again. Now we would like people to read yours.
