Monthly Basic Salary for Assistant Professor: HK$45,130 - HK$68,700 plus Monthly Composite Cash Allowance (Depending on the entry pay point, 5%/30% of the Monthly Basic Salary, capped at $16,848)

The University invites applications for the following post in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:
Duties
The appointee(s) at the Assistant Professor level will be responsible for the course planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching), and where necessary, programme administration in related disciplines at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He/she will be expected to undertake scholarly activities as well as participate in School/University activities and administration.
The appointee(s) at the Lecturer level will be responsible for the course planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) in related disciplines at the undergraduate level. He/she will also be required to engage in scholarly activities as well as participate in School/University activities and administration.
Requirements
Applicants for Assistant Professor should normally have an earned doctorate in linguistics/applied linguistics/language studies with specialization in English or with a sub-field in translation. They should also have relevant teaching/professional experience (preferably including course administration), a record of research and peer-reviewed publications and involvement in professional and community activities. A good command of English and Chinese is required.
Applicants for Lecturer should have a higher degree (preferably an earned doctorate) in linguistics/applied linguistics/language studies with specialization in English, or with a sub-field in translation. They should have relevant teaching/professional experience and a good command of English and Chinese.
Terms of Employment
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract, subject to renewal by mutual consent. Remuneration package includes monthly basic salary, monthly composite cash allowance, annual leave, medical & dental benefits, life insurance and contract-end gratuity (inclusive of such statutory benefits as the Mandatory Provident Fund).
