Full-time teacher-scholar at the junior, tenure-track rank in Chinese civilization and humanities
The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures at Barnard College, Columbia University, is seeking a full-time teacher-scholar at the junior, tenure-track rank in Chinese civilization and humanities, starting September 1, 2011. Highest priority will be given to an intellectual historian with an Early China specialty. Candidates should demonstrate a broad interest in the cultures and civilizations of East Asia; areas of specialization may include cultural history, religion, literature, or philosophy.
Teaching will include undergraduate general education courses such as Chinese Civilizations and Asian Humanities, as well as more specialized and graduate courses. Ph.D. required.
