Lee Wing Tat Chair Professor of Chinese Literature
Assistant Professor

The Department of Chinese (http://www.LN.edu.hk/chi/) offers courses on classical and modern literature, language and linguistics, comparative literature, as well as creative and media writing. The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree programme emphasizes multi-perspective literary studies as well as creative writing and communicative skills.

For post (1), candidates are expected to be scholars of established international reputation in traditional or modern Chinese literature, or in research topics that could cross over between classical and modern literature. Expertise in the traditional area will be an advantage.

For post (2), the appointee will be expected to teach mainly in the areas of modern literature in Chinese, writing (media, news and creative writing) and contemporary Chinese literary studies. The appointee will also be expected to contribute to syllabus development of the courses of modern Chinese literature and writing. Applicants are invited to send in samples of writing (writing in literature research or creative writing), together with their applications.

Language Instructor
Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL)(Post Ref.: 10/155/C)

The CEAL (http://www.ln.edu.hk/ceal/) is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic full-time Language Instructor to teach credit-bearing English language courses and carry out other related duties, in particular preparing for the new tertiary academic structure to be implemented in Hong Kong from 2012. Other teaching-related duties include course and assessment coordination, curriculum development and administrative tasks.

Applicants should have a master's degree in applied linguistics or a related discipline, a Diploma level professional teaching qualification, a native speaker level of English language proficiency and at least four years' relevant post-qualification ESL teaching experience. This experience would ideally be at tertiary level with Chinese speaking students.

Preference will be given to those with experience in at least one of the following areas: (a) IT-enabled teaching and learning environment; (b) independent learning supported by a self-access centre; (c) curriculum development from an outcomes-based approach; and (d) development and administration of online assessments.

Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Translation
Department of Translation(Post Ref.: 10/160/C)

The Translation Programme (http://www.LN.edu.hk/tran/) aims to provide an education in bilingual studies which can produce graduates with competence in both Chinese and English. One of its central features is the equal emphasis on translation as a profession and as an academic discipline. Another feature is the importance attached to the socio-cultural environment of the Chinese and English languages.

Candidates must be eminent and internationally recognized scholars in Translation, especially Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation, with an outstanding research record in both translation studies and translation in practice. They should have extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Translation, Translation Studies, Interpreting, Literary Studies, and Language Studies.
