Deadline: 15 October 2010
Join the pilot KAPISANAN Artist Residency Program!
KARP is a one year artist residency program at KAPISANAN, open to young and emerging artists (under 30 years old, or in the first five years of their practice) who work in the visual arts, theatre, design, installation, architecture, digital media (video, interactive: development and production), sound, text, fashion, craft, community arts/education, or combinations of any two or... more, and/or other creative pursuits.
KARP is focused on mentorship and professional development, as well as Filipino cultural immersion. The Filipino cultural immersion piece to this program is designed to help build intangible assets of social and cultural capital to equip emerging Filipino artists with a cultural repertoire, and ways of presenting your work.
KARP will support emerging Filipino artists by providing direction, facilities, and resources to develop, create, and exhibit work, and possibly participate in an arts exchange in the Philippines, including use of digital studios, professional development workshops, exhibitions and teaching opportunities.
KARP acts as a stepping-stone between school and a professional career. The residents must provide their own materials and supplies, unless additional funding is secured by KAPISANAN.
We welcome emerging artists who are interested in collaboration and experimentation in interdisciplinary and hybrid arts, particularly interactivity that enhance public space and facilitate interaction between the diverse communities in Toronto and beyond.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR ARTISTS WITH:
• A diploma or degree from a Design/Art College or University or equivalent experience
