Sharjah-based Kalimat Publishing House, will be releasing 17 new titles - predominantly by Emirati authors - at the 2010 Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), increasing the number of titles on offer from the publishing house by nearly 30 percent to a total of 75.
Kalimat will also be hosting a number of activities at its stand, including author readings, book signings and coffee discussions during the 10 day event, which is organised annually by the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information and is one of the greatest draws for book lovers in the UAE.
"In addition to 17 brand new titles, we also have two firsts for Kalimat: two touchy feely books named "Qutta" and "Kiwi" by Noura Noman for preschoolers with patches of textured fabric on the title page to enhance sensory and language awareness and a digitised version of the Best Children's Book award winner at the Beirut Book Fair 2009- Rania Zbib Daher's Al Dajaja Bak Beek (Buck Buck the Chicken), illustrated by Joelle Achkar, which has been adapted for the iPad using cutting-edge technology," Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and CEO of Kalimat, said.
