Date: 13 November 2010
The Ins and Outs of Creative Writing, taught by poet and writer Shelly Bryant and organized by FEC, will be held in Shanghai on November 13, 2010, with a follow up session on March 12, 2011. An online portion of the program will run from December through February, and is open to participants outside of Shanghai. Group sizes will be between 4 and 10 writers to allow for maximum interaction. To sign up for the workshops in Shanghai, visit this page. Registration for the online portion is available at http://poetrycoachonline.com/courses.html
Aims: The workshop is split into two portions. The first will address the writer and the writing process, including techniques that will aid in writing fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction for publication. The second section covers the business of writing, giving tips on how to get one's creative work published in magazines, anthologies, and journals, both print and digital.
Brief Writeup of Presenter:
Shelly Bryant has spent her adult life living in Asia, most recently splitting time between Singapore and Shanghai. The migrant’s life is a fun one, allowing her time to do the things she loves — including reading, writing, cycling, and traveling. Ms. Bryant serves as the book reviews editor for the online literary journal Sloth Jockey. She has published over 250 poems in various print and online magazines, journals, and anthologies. Her two poetry collections, Cyborg Chimera and Under the Ash, were released by Sam's Dot Publishing in October 2009 and October 2010, and her travel guide Suzhou Basics was published by Urbanatomy in May 2010.
