Description: Founded in 1999, NAAJA is a network of professional journalists of American Arab heritage working in the mainstream American news media and the American Arab ethnic media. We are proud to include several networking chapters in the United States and also NAAJA-Palestine, the local Chapter for Palestinian Journalists. We seek to network with all American Arab journalists of Middle East background, or those professionals who work in the American Arab ethnic media or mainstream American media with ties to American Arab journalism training. We are a non-political, professional organization. Our purpose is not politics, though we recognize how important the issue of American Arabs plays in the political arena in the post-Sept. 11, 2001 America. We discuss and explore those issues among other mainstream journalism issues. And, we tolerate debate and discussion.
