Lecturer in Mandarin Chinese

The Department of Modern Languages at Messiah College invites applications for a lecturer in Mandarin Chinese beginning August 2011.
Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities include all levels of Chinese language and upper level courses in Chinese literature and culture.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD strongly preferred, and candidates must possess native or near-native fluency in Mandarin as well as proficient fluency in English. Required skills include: Ability to build curricular programming in Chinese Studies, familiarity with technology-based instruction, and interest in teaching in cross-disciplinary contexts. Evidence of strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in the liberal arts tradition and to scholarly research is expected.
The College: Messiah College is a Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences. The College is committed to an embracing evangelical spirit rooted in the Anabaptist, Pietist, and Wesleyan traditions of the Christian Church. Our mission is to educate men and women toward maturity of intellect, character, and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation in church and society. Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
