With this thought, Classmate, the Best in stationery, a brand from ITC, has conceptualized this unique competition. 'Ideas for India' offers students like you a once in a lifetime opportunity to voice your ideas for the Nation.
11 National finalists will intern with reputed organizations like ITC, CII-ITC Center, Tony Blair Faith Foundation, World Wide Fund for Nature and more and work towards developing an execution plan for his / her Idea for India. What's more, 5 National finalists get a cash award of Rs. 1 Lakh each and a 1 week International Educative tour! 6 runners up get a cash award of Rs. 50,000 each!

You can participate in this initiative by first choosing your category of entry, after which you will have to develop and present your unique idea in that category. The idea should be innovative, dynamic, individual in thought and have the power to truly effect change. The different categories for entries are:
Science & Technology
Environment Protection
Education for All
Encouraging Social & Religious Tolerance
Infrastructure for a Better Tomorrow
Emerging India
Your entry can either be
A written entry (up to a 250 words essay in English only which can be supported by pictures, drawings etc.) or a spoken entry (of maximum duration 1 minute)
The more creative and innovative your entry is the more chances it has of standing out – so feel free to think out of the box!
While preparing your entry, you must clearly explain what your idea is, and how you think it can make a difference in your chosen category. Remember that although your style and presentation could be unique, it is important that your idea is truly distinctive, and can help create a better future for India.
In order to be eligible to participate you should be between the age group of 14-21 years. You should be not less than 14 years and not more than 21 years at the time of submitting your entry. We will be forced to disqualify any entries which do not fit our age requirements, so please be careful while applying!
The evaluation of all the entries for the ‘Ideas for India’ from all across the country will be judged on the following parameters:
Originality of the idea
Feasibility & Practicality
Scope of Impact
You might be one of the lucky 500 participants to qualify for the next round of the competition – i.e. the ‘Idea Presentation’ round, which will be held in 10 cities. If any qualifying participant is from outside the 10 cities where the city level event will be held, then their travel will be sponsored.
All the shortlisted candidates for the City level will be informed by our representatives by 18th October, 2010.
You will be briefed on the details about the next round, where you and 49 other selected entries from your city will have to personally present your ideas to a jury comprising of respected professionals and well-known personalities from your city. Each participant will have 5+2 minutes to present and explain his or her idea. There will be one finalist selected from each city to compete at the final level – the Grand finale.
At the City level, presentations will be adjudged keeping the following parameters in mind:
Originality of the idea
Feasibility & Practicality
Scope of Impact
Conviction of Presenter
Overall presentation
All the other qualifying entries from various cities will be collected by us and uploaded on the website for voting. The entry which gets the highest number of votes online will be selected as a Wild Card Entry for the national finals in addition to the 10 city level winners.
You will be judged by some of the most reputed organizations like ITC, CII-ITC center, Tony Blair Faith Foundation, World Wide Fund for Nature and more who will quiz you on your idea, commitment and dedication to the selected cause. If your idea is convincing enough, you will embark on an internship with that very organization and work towards developing concrete plans to make your idea a reality! Not only this- if you win, you will also get a cash award of Rs. 1 Lakh and a 1 week International Educative tour! 6 runner ups also win cash prizes of Rs. 50,000 each!
