Fifty-five Years after the Bandung Conference: Islam, Neo-colonialism, and the Boundaries of the Modern State

Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh

Special Issue of the Sociology of Islam and Muslim Societies Newsletter

In light of the ongoing resistance to neo-colonialism in South/Southeast Asia and the framing of many of these struggles within an Islamic discourse, we are focusing the next issue of the Sociology of Islam and Muslim Societies Newsletter on examining the implications of this crucial development in contemporary Islamic political thought. To that end, we are writing to solicit your reflection essays (approx. 1500 words) for this special issue. The title of this special issue is as follows: Fifty-five Years after the Bandung Conference: Islam, Neo-colonialism, and the Boundaries of the Modern State. Those who would like to contribute can send us their short articles or book reviews by October 15th.
