The winning prose and selected nominations are published annually in the anthology, Best New Writing.

Anyone (including the author) can submit prose for The Hoffer Award. If you are familiar with the nomination process, visit the prose submission page. Otherwise, please use the following FAQ.

Why should prose be nominated for the Hoffer Award?
The Hoffer Award exists as a platform to honor short prose of exceptional merit. (Please read our mission statement.) Since its inception as the Writers' Notes Award, the Hoffer Award has grown in prominence each year. Winners of the “Hoffer” are given prizes, honors, and worldwide media exposure. The prizewinner and selected nominations are included in the annual anthology, Best New Writing. NOTE: The whole point of Best New Writing is to bring new work before the public. We take what we do very seriously, as we pass your story around the world to our veteran panel. Each story is read. Each story is evaluated in full. If you are considering a simultaneous submission, please don't send your story.
