Collegiate Tamil Poem Contest Winner Announced
A Tamil poem writing contest organised by the XTRAA HRD Centre and Ananda Jothi, a Tamil monthly for the college students of Pudukottai district recently evoked good response as nearly 40 entries were received from 20 colleges in and around Pudukottai. The students were asked to compose two poems – one on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and another of their choice. S.Karthik, a student of H.H.Rajah's College of Pudukottai, who wrote the winning poem, was awarded the title `outstanding student poet of Pudukottai' by Pudukottai Kavignar Rama Ramanathan at a function held at Tamil Nadu Science Forum hall in Pudukottai. Silambarasan of Kings College of Engineering and Ms Indira Priyadarshini of Bharathi Women's College of Arts and Science received the second and third prizes respectively.
