Really Short Story Contest: New of the North (US)
An online publication thrives on its continual release of engaging content. Covering world news and highlighting recent national headlines are crucial to keeping an audience informed, but the powerful stories of individual readers are often ignored. In the recurring search for articles that express the passions of our publication, we know that the power of prose is largely determined by whether or not it relates to each reader. With this in mind, we’ve joined NewsPortalSite Corporation’s “Really Short Story Contest”, along with several other website publishers, and are calling all writers to join the fun.

We’d like our readers to participate in the writing process and to be involved in the stories of our publication. After all, sometimes our readers are our best writers.

Join the Contest:
Submit a story or article that fits within the theme of our publication. For inspiration, take a look at our article sections and write a story that relates to the designated topic. Your article can be a local news report, discussion of a current event, story about an experience you’ve had, a fiction piece, or really anything that inspires you to begin writing! We’re asking for stories to be 1000 words or less, written in English, and geared toward the existing content of our site. Stories will be judged by how well-written and captivating they are.

Prizes:
The first-place winner will receive $100! Second and third place will be rewarded $50 and $25 respectively.

Even if you are not chosen as a winner, your Really Short Story could be part of a content feed that supplies stories to other websites! Exceptional articles will compiled for syndication, allowing another publication to release one story a day on their own site. With your story as a part of this feed, you receive the benefit of having your audience expanded!

Date:
The Really Short Story Contest will run from July 1st to July 31st. Submit a story within the month of July in order to have it considered. Finalists will be chosen for each website during the first week of August and an overall winner will be announced on Monday, August 9th. (Some sites will have more than one finalist.)
