Associate Managing Editor
(New York, New York)

Our Dial Editorial department is currently seeking an Associate Managing Editor to maintain schedules, run production status meetings, proofread and traffic all ads and promotion materials, and work with the Executive Managing Editor on coordinating catalog copy, budgeting, assorted company-wide technology initiatives, and various projects.

Additionally, the Associate Managing Editor:

1. Ensures that all sales and marketing materials are received and distributed.
2. Supports the Executive Managing Editor and Publisher in seeking out backlist sales opportunities.
3. Works closely with the Managing Editorial Assistant on various tasks.
4. Proofreads as needed.

Qualifications/requirements include:

* 2 years related experience; book experience required
* Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
* Strong organizational and communication skills
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
* Knowledge of SAP and Filemaker 10.0 a plus

Editor

(New York, New York)

Our Young Readers division is currently seeking an Editor to create series and licensed books for the Grosset & Dunlap and Price Stern Sloan imprints. In addition to creating and developing books that are tied into licensed properties, the Editor will edit current/ongoing series.

Grosset & Dunlap publishes roughly 130 titles a year and deals largely in brands, readers, series, and licenses. Price Stern Sloan (PSS!) publishes around 50 titles a year and produces quirky, unique books, including Mad Libs, Mr. Men, and movie tie-ins.

Specific responsibilities include:

1. Acquiring new series fiction
2. Remaining cognizant of entertainment trends, including licensed properties
3. Writing cover copy, catalog copy, and title information sheets
4. Attending and presenting at launches and sales conferences

Qualifications/requirements include:

* Minimum 4 years prior editorial experience with children’s books
* Excellent writing and copywriting skills
* Strong interpersonal & negotiation skills
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word
