Harper Collin's The Thousand Word Challenge: Short Story Dictionary Contest (Canada)
To enter the Contest, an entrant must complete and submit the online entry form. Entries must be in English and the story should be no longer than 1,000 words in length. Each story must be original, written solely by the entrant, not defamatory, lewd, immoral, scandalous or obscene and include 10 of the 40 words from the Collins Canadian Dictionary, First Edition 2010 (ISBN 9780007337521) listed on the Contest page. Only one entry per entrant, household and email address. No other method of entry will be accepted.

No purchase is required to enter the Contest or to win. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Contest Entry Forms will be accepted from 12.01am Eastern Standard Time on 14 May 2010 until 1 July 2010.

ELIGIBILITY

The Contest is open to all individuals resident in Canada, ages 13 and older, who have internet access (excluding residents of the province of Quebec).

GRAND PRIZE

There will be one (1) grand prize winner. The winning entrant (as selected by the Sponsor in its sole discretion) shall: (1) have their story published as a half-page advertorial in the print edition of The Globe and Mail, on or about 7 August 2010; and (2) receive books available from the Harper Collins library at www.harpercollins.ca up to a value of C$1,000

SECOND PRIZE

There will be two (2) second prize winners. Each second place winner (as selected by the Sponsor in its sole discretion) shall: 1) have their story published online, on or about 7 August 2010, at GlobeandMail.com/books; and 2) receive books available from the Harper Collins library at www.harpercollins.ca up to a value of C$100.
