NGO Alliance Against Racism (NAAR): Call for submissions

NGO Alliance Against Racism (NAAR): Call for submissions
The NGO Alliance Against Racism (NAAR) is preparing a Shadow Report to the Irish Government’s (combined 3rd & 4th) Report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD). Submissions are invited from groups and individuals who are concerned about racism in Ireland. Over 40 NGOs were involved in the last Shadow Report process by making submissions, being part of the steering group and/or signing up to the final report. The Concluding Observations and Recommendations from CERD to the Irish Government reflected many of the concerns highlighted in the last NAAR Shadow Report.

Information from submissions will be collated into a draft Shadow Report and circulated to groups for their comments. The final Shadow Report will then be circulated for groups to sign up to prior to submission to CERD.

The NGO Alliance Against Racism has received limited funding from the Community Foundation for Ireland to fund groups who wish to hold consultations with their members or clients in order to inform their submissions. Please see attached application for funding.

In addition, submissions should ordinarily:

* be between one and ten pages
* fall under one or more of the broad headings of the attached Guiding Questions
* make use of previous research/reports done by organisations, if relevant
* include references where possible
* include quotes - please indicate event and date if possible

Please send your submissions by June 30th 2010 to:
