The Arvon International Poetry Competition 2010
The panel will be chaired by Carol Ann Duffy. She is joined by Elaine Feinstein and Sudeep Sen, who was a featured writer on Asia Writes.

Founded by Ted Hughes and now in its 30th year, The Arvon International Poetry Competition is one of the UK's most prestigious open poetry prizes. The first prize of £7,500 is one of the largest available for a single poem. The competition is truly international, welcoming entries from around the world.

The Arvon International Poetry Competition is now open, so enter online today for a chance to win up to £7,500. The deadline for entries is 5pm on 16 August 2010.

The first prize in the 2010 competition is the largest ever awarded by Arvon.

Third Prize – £1,000

Commendations – Three prizes of £500

A special prize of £500 has been generously donated by The Wenlock Poetry Festival. This will be awarded to the best single poem which, in the judges’ opinion, concerns the theme ‘The Pity of War...’. The winner of this prize will also be invited to read their work at The Wenlock Poetry Festival in 2011.
