The Age is inviting entries for the 2010 Book of the Year Awards.
A $10,000 prize will be awarded in each of the following categories:
- A work of imaginative writing
- A work of non-fiction
- A work of poetry (the Dinny O'Hearn prize)
The three chosen books will then be considered for the overall Age Book of the Year, the winner of which will receive an additional $10,000. The winners will be announced at The Age Book of the Year function during the Melbourne Writers’ Festival.
The prize for the work of imaginative writing will be awarded to a novel or a collection of short stories. The poetry prize will be awarded to a collection of poetry by one author, including selected or collected volumes.
The prize for the non-fiction work will be awarded to the book considered the best biography, autobiography, the best history or the best scholarly work of social, political or topical interest.
Entries close on June 4.
