1. Entry Deadline: Submissions must be postmarked by June 15, 2010. No entry fee is required.
2. General Requirement: Documentaries of any style and form completed after July 1, 2008 are eligible for competition at 2010 TIDF. Works submitted to competition must be Asian premieres, except for Asian productions that have premiered in their countries of production.
3. Competitions and Awards: Certificates will be granted to each nominated documentary. One director or producer of each nominated film will be invited to the festival. TIDF will provide accommodation and a round-trip economic-class ticket to Taiwan. One guest per film. Screening fees for nominated works are waived automatically.
TIDF will grant each award-winning documentary a certificate, a trophy and prize money. And a 15% tax will be deducted for Taiwanese nationals; a 20% tax for foreign nationals. Winning documentaries must authorize TIDF the rights of five free non-commercial screenings within two years after the end of the festival.
* International Feature-Length Documentary
Open to documentaries over 60 minutes.
Grand Prize : 1 place; 10,000 USD
Merit Prize: 2 places; 6,000 USD for each
* International Short-Length Documentary
Open to documentaries up to 60 minutes.
Grand Prize : 1 place; 5,000 USD
Merit Prize: 2 places; 2,500 USD for each
(If a film is exactly 60 minutes long, entrants may choose to enter either the Feature-Length or the Mid-Length & Short competition.)
* Asian Vision Award
All Asian films of any length or those that aimed at Asian themes selected in Competitions or Non-Competition Programs will be considered.
Grand Prize : 1 place; 5,000 USD
Merit Prize: 1 place; 2,500 USD
* Taiwan Award
All Taiwanese films of any length or those that aimed at Taiwanese themes selected in Competitions or Non-Competition Programs will be considered.
Grand Prize : 1 place; 200,000 NTD
Special Jury Prize : 1 place; 100,000 NTD
* A 15% tax will be taken from the prize of Taiwanese winners; a 20% tax will be taken from the prize of foreign winners.
4. Selection Procedure
* Preliminary Selection: A committee of Taiwanese professionals will select films for nomination.
※ Nominations will be announced in mid-August 2010 on TIDF website. Entrants will also be notified.
※ TIDF may select non-nominated films into Non-Competition programs.
* Final Selection: A jury consisted of international and local professionals will select the winning documentaries during the festival.
5. Submission
* One entry form is required for each film.
* On-line Submission only. Please use our on-line submission form (http://www.tidf.org.tw) print the final confirmation, sign at the authorization, and mail them to TIDF along with two DVDs preview screeners.
* TIDF will not cover any shipping fare for submissions. Entry materials will not be returned unless they are picked up from the office at a later time.
* TIDF (NTMOFA) consider the submitted films as a part of the Museum’s collection. DVDs submitted will be stored at the Museum archive at a non-circulating basis. Public screenings will not occur without written consent by the films’ copyright owners.
* All entrants must authorize TIDF to make a digital copy in order to facilitate screenings for jury members.
6. Print Shipping Fee of Nominated Films
TIDF will cover one-way shipping fee of nominated documentaries.
