Duties
The appointee at Lecturer level will be responsible for the planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) of courses in Creative Writing and Film Arts or related disciplines. Involvement or provision of assistance in studio management will be expected. The appointee will also be required to be engaged in scholarly activities and participate in School/University activities and administration.
The appointee at Assistant Lecturer level will be responsible for providing assistance in course planning and development as well as undertaking course coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) in Creative Writing and Film Arts or related disciplines. Involvement or provision of assistance in studio management will be expected. The appointee will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities and School/University activities.
Requirements
Applicants should have at least a higher degree, preferably a PhD for Lecturer, in Literature, Film and TV or a related discipline. Relevant teaching/professional experience is required for Lecturer and preferred for Assistant Lecturer. Publications in Chinese Creative Writing or teaching experience/publications in the following areas will be an advantage: Reading and Writing Short Stories (短篇小說創作與欣賞), Media Writing (傳媒寫作), Chinese Classics and Film/TV Adaptations (中國古典名著及影視改編), Masterpieces in Literature (名著選讀), News Writing (新聞寫作) and Writing Radio Play (廣播劇創作與研究). Applicants should be creative and dynamic. A good command of English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua) is essential. Writing skills in Chinese is of particular importance.
Terms of Appointment
Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract initially, subject to renewal by mutual consent. The benefits package of a 1-year contract includes monthly basic salary, annual leave, medical & dental schemes and contract-end gratuity (inclusive of such statutory benefits as the Mandatory Provident Fund).
