Gotham Writers’ Workshop is always on the lookout for excellent writing instructors. Candidates for teaching jobs should have professional credits in the type of writing they want to teach. For example, if you wish to teach fiction, you should have some publication credits to your name. Teaching experience and advanced degrees are a plus.
To teach New York City classes, instructors must live in the New York City area. To teach online classes, instructors may live anywhere.
Candidates should send a brief cover letter and resume. Please indicate which type or types of writing you are qualified to teach, in the cover letter. After you send your materials, you will be sent a note informing you that the material has been received. Please allow at least a month for this response. If and when your credentials and our need coincide, you will be contacted with further information about the job. At that time, you will be invited to begin the interview process.
Do not follow-up asking if the position has been filled. There is not a single position. This is an ongoing search. Candidates are often contacted many months after sending in their materials. Application material should be sent to Alex Steele, Dean of Faculty. Your material may be sent by e-mail or regular mail. Resumes should be sent as an attached document, preferably in Microsoft Word compatible format.
