Chang Mai Writers Club
Website: http://www.chiangmaiwritersclub.com/visitors.php
Email Address: info@chiangmaiwritersclub.com
Editor/Consultant: Robert Tilley
Country: Thailand
Type: Organization
Description: Chiang Mai's Writers Club and Wine Bar opened in December 2003 and has grown rapidly to become the city's unofficial press club and a favorite haunt of anybody connected with the media or interested in how the local journalists and "scribblers" function. It's an obligatory watering hole for visitors who want to know what's happening in Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand. There's usually a travel writer at the bar-if not, seek out proprietor ROBERT TILLEY, who writes travel articles and off-beat stories for a variety of publications. His partner TONG is the Thai half of the Writers Club management and is a mine of information about Chiang Mai, its people and customs. Tilley has more than 50 years of journalistic experience under his frayed leather belt-25 of them spent as a foreign correspondent in Germany, Central and Eastern Europe for The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph. He also wrote extensively for the now defunct but sorely missed European newspaper.
