Academic from various universities around the world have gathered here for a literature symposium hosted by Qatar University (QU) Department of English Literature and Linguistics and co-sponsored by Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar.
Titles "Mapping the New: Aesthetics, New Directions and Innovations in Literature and Culture," the two-day symposium which opened yesterday saw participation of academics from American University of Sharjah, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Zayed University, etc.
The aim of the symposium is to explore and chart the newest trends and movements in literature in the Arab world and elsewhere, organisers said. Presenters and panels included Dr. Moneera Al-Ghadeer, Harvard University Chair of English and Comparative Literature Department Professor David Damrosch, Alia Yunis, Leila Aboulela, Liza Sewell, among others.
