Food. Mmmm. It sustains. It inspires. It defines us in a way that our DNA still can’t get a handle on. In honor of this dynamic relationship among our bodies, our desires, and our earth, the next edition of Vice-Versa will be serving up a helping of writing and art inspired by food. To sate our appetites, we the editors seek poetry, short stories, creative nonfiction, video, and visual art that pay homage to food’s centrality in our lives. Entries are encouraged to consider—but are not limited to—the following pairings:
* Metaphors of giving and receiving
* Locality and food
* Sociocultural construction of cuisine
* Consumption (desire vs. need?)
* Culture/cultivation
The deadline for submissions is December 21, 2010, with publication slated for March 2011.
