Submissions

Submissions
Submissions from writers in Asia-Pacific or of Asian descent are welcomed. You may send your poetry and short fiction; as well as articles, reviews, and reportage on Asian literature and culture to editors@asiawrites.org for consideration. Please use submit@asiawrites.org for submitting announcements (see examples below). We reply to submissions within two days and we post announcements/non-literary submissions within 24 hours from receipt.

Featured Works

Asia Writes features select poetry, short fiction, essays, reviews, and reportage by Asian/mixed-Asian writers. So far, we have featured works by award-wining writers (Palanca, Academy of American Poets Award, Sahitya, Meritage, Unisun-Reliance); Pushcart, Missisauga, Man Asian Prize finalists; previous Iowa, Charles Wallace, Hawthornden, PEN USA, Kundiman and other international and reputable local workshop fellows; editors of literary journals; and other important literary figures in Asia.

You may submit your polished/proofread works in English and a third-person bio (which may include a photo and links to your books/personal website) to editors@asiawrites.org. Previously unpublished works OR those that have not appeared on the web are preferred. We recommend that you read some works that we have featured HERE for you to have a feel of the quality of works we accept.

Reading of submissions is year round and since we would like to reserve only the best works, you can expect a quick reply. Response time is 48 hours for accepted works. If you have not heard from us within two days, we encourage you to please consider sending new submissions. We endeavor to feature a wide range of Asian writings and we are sure to find a few works from your future submissions that are suitable for our Featured Works section.

We feature literary/creative works every other day while we feature articles (book reviews, essays, reportage) within 24 hours from receipt. We inform the author one day at least prior to the publication of his/her work(s).

Note that this is a not-for-profit project and Asia Writes cannot pay contributors at this time. Since its inception, it has become an active community of Asian writers and we would like to think of it as a collaborative effort among literary enthusiasts in the region. At the close of the year, we will nominate a few works to Best of the Net, Best of the Web, and The Pushcart Prize. See our first batch of nominated works through these links: Best of the Net - Poetry, Best of the Net - Short Fiction, Best of the Web, Pushcart Prize.

Note on copyright: Since we do not offer payment, copyright reverts to authors upon publication. However, to give us a little incentive for promptly reading your submissions and responding within two days, we would like to request that Asia Writes be credited as the first publisher.
