SENIOR EDITOR - ENGLISH

The Office of Communications is seeking a motivated and highly competent Senior Editor for its Publications Team. This role is responsible for writing and editing a wide-range of technology-focused digital content, including press releases, high-level speeches, web stories, blog posts and e-newsletter articles.
The candidate must be already based in Qatar and be native English speaker. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English, and will work closely with other members of the Publications Team to ensure all web content is updated and uploaded in a timely manner, while publicizing it through appropriate channels, including social media. Writing and editing press releases, speeches and editing white papers and reports will be a key part of the role.
Familiarity with the information and communications technology field is beneficial, as is a general interest in technology trends and innovations.
This position is for a one-year contract, with a possibility for annual renewal. Applicants who are not based in Qatar or are not native English speakers will not be considered.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write and edit English content for ictQATAR digital media (website, blog, e-newsletter, social media, etc.)
- Write and Edit press releases, high-level speeches, etc.
- Edit and proofread digital and print publications including Annual Reports, white papers, telecom related reports, etc.
- Work with other team members to upload content within deadlines and ensuring accuracy and inclusion of links and other multimedia elements as required
- Monitor latest ICT trends and innovations
- Must be already based in Qatar
- Must be native English speaker
- At least eight years of professional experience in writing/editing
- Excellent communications skills
- Experience writing on ICT issues and trends preferred
- Functional knowledge of latest content management systems
- Ability to work well in teams
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and work under pressure will be appreciated
- Cultural sensitivity working is desirable
- Master’s degree in journalism, communications or related field
- A written test may be required for the eligible candidate
