Join the Reuters real-time news operation producing headlines and stories based on companies from around the world, with a strong focus on U.S., UK, and Canadian coverage.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific day-to-day responsibilities and milestones needed to achieve the objectives):
  • Write headlines and stories accurately, quickly and with high standards of credibility, in accordance with Reuters principles and operating standards.
  • Identify market-moving figures and comments to prepare news stories from sources including electronic news releases, conference calls, Webcasts and press conferences.
  • Build and maintains contacts and sources to develop deep subject expertise. Coordinate coverage with equities reporters in North America, Asia and Europe.
EDUCATION: Journalism degree (or equivalent experience)

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • An ability to write clearly and quickly to meet Reuters reporting standards and principles.
  • A sound command of grammar, spelling, punctuation.
  • Comfort with handling financial data and facts accurately and quickly.
  • An ability to work under time pressure and undertake shift work
DESIRED SKILLS (Nice to have in addition to the Required Skills), necessary industry experience and associated number of years of experience:
  • Typically 0-8 years experience writing and reporting business news.
  • Knowledge of corporate activity and stock markets, or an ability to gain such knowledge quickly.
