Assistant Professor in Translation (Ref.: 201300023), tenable from September 1, 2013 on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal. An appointee with demonstrated performance will be considered for tenure towards the end of the second three-year contract.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Translation or related areas. They should pursue an active agenda of research and publication that can complement and reinforce the Programme’s existing strengths in the board spectrum of bilingual studies. The successful candidate should be well-versed in Practical Translation and Translation Theory. The ability to develop and conduct courses that are consonant with the curricular needs of the Programme and can inspire creative and critical reflection on vital language issues will be a definite advantage. For both posts, the School values a strong commitment to the development of innovative research paradigms and pedagogical approaches. Primary teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate level, but the appointee will also be expected to supervise M.Phil. dissertations and Ph.D. projects. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
