DW – Indovision Journalist Competition 2013 is back!

Today’s media are very important, not only just an information source for people but also to inspire and wider the audience’s horizon. Journalists are the main role of all above that, as the main person who have those responsibilities. Indovision and DW are searching for Indonesian journalists through this competition to sharpened their skill and creativity.

The competition will be held from January 15th 2013 and ended on April 15th 2013. Journalists from printed media, online media, television and radio and also bloggers are also welcomed to participated this competition. The two lucky winners will also attend Global Media Forum in Bonn, Germany for free!

PERIOD OF COMPETITION:
  • Starts on 15th January 2013, 18:00
  • Closing date on 15th April, 2013 on or before 18:00 WIB
  • Entries received after 18:00 WIB on 15th April 2013 will not be accepted
METHOD OF ENTRY:
  • Language: English or Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Feature story shall be not less than 5500 character.
  • Must have been published in Indonesia print media : Newspaper, Magazine or tabloid (National or Local), during the period of competition for Print Media.
  • Must have been published in Indonesian On Line Media, during the period of competition for Online Media.
  • Print Media: Proof of Publishing: Hard copies of the Print Media must accompany the entry besides a scanned copy of the feature story.
  • Online Media: Feature story must be emailed along with an active URL link.
  • Entries must be submitted via email to Puji :sfauziah@indovision.tv , include the cover date on the issue in which the article appears, and scan copy ID
  • File size not more than 2 Gb ( When file size exceeded, please send it partially)
RULES OF GOVERNING THE PRIZE:
  • Entry is open to professional journalist, citizen freelance and independent journalist or Students of journalism.
  • Professional journalist refers to journalists who are employed by accredited news organizations or publications, on a part-time or full-time basis.
  • Citizen (Freelance or Independent) journalist refers to writers who are not employed by news organizations, and their articles are published in widely recognized news portals, community publications, or self-published on personal blogs.
  • Entries must have been published in Indonesia territory in English or Indonesian in print, TV or online during the period of competition.
  • The Participatns are divided into 2 categories (a) Print Media & Online Media (b) Television/Video Media.
  • For Print and Online Media, the participation is the individual Journalist who qualifies to be JURY selected as a Finalist of the Competition.
  • For TV/Video Media, the Participation shall be in groups of 3 personsincluding the Journalist. The Journalist shall be the Representative as the JURY selected Finalist.
  • There will be 5 JURY selected Finalists from each category i.e. 5 Individuals for Print and Online Media and 5 Groups of 3 represented by a Journalist for the TV/Video category.
  • The finalists from both Categorieswill be invited to attend the DW Journalist Competition Awards Luncheon on May 7th, 2013 in Jakarta (Finalist from outside Jakarta will have to consider their flight and accommodation at their own expenses)
  • The finalist will be from the Journalist Participant of the article and may not be represented by others
  • There will be ONE Winner from each Category – 2 Winning Journalists in total.
THE AWARD WINNER/S WILL EACH RECEIVE:
  • Return Economy Air Ticketfrom Jakarta-Bonn and 5 days/4 nights accommodation in Bonn, Germany
  • Euro 500 per diem
  • Participation in the Global Media Forum in Bonn – Germany, 17 – 19 June 2013 (http://www.dw.de/global-media-forum/home/s-30956)
  • One Day workshop in DW Headquarters conducted by DW’s Indonesian Language Department
The prizes must be taken as offered, and cannot be redeemed, non-transferable. Winners are responsible for their local fiscal tax, International passport, visa, travel documents where applicable. The winner will be required to produce at least 1 news article for their trip to Bonn – Germany (Ticket and accommodation provided from Jakarta to Bonn- Germany, winners outside Jakarta should consider their flight and accommodation to Jakarta on their own expenses). DW and Indovision reserve the rights to re broadcast the news article from the winners during their trip to Bonn –Germany at any time. The judges’ decision is final, and no further correspondence on their decision will be entertained.

DW-INDOVISION JOURNALIST COMPETITION: TOPICS

Topic 1:

Lifestyle: Pick any two of these weekly programmes broadcast on DW, watch them and review the shows. Where applicable, show relevance with Indonesia lifestyle, living, interest.
AND/OR

Knowledge: DW plays a key role in Indovision's mission to expand knowledge based content for Indonesian families. How important and successful do you think the media can play a role in distribution of knowledge in Indonesia? DW channel offers the most comprehensive and up-to-date information that affects your daily lives such as health/medicine, technology, environment, world issues, arts, culture, politics, business. Through DW carriage on Indovision, Indonesian audience is equipped with the knowledge for a better living.

Topic 2:

Globalization: DW is well known for the broadcast of GLOBAL 3000, a weekly magazine show that highlights, reports and deals with issues related to globalization. Topics broadcast covers worldwide including Indonesia. As a Journalist, do you have an issue or topic about globalization that has affected Indonesia which you feel we could include in GLOBAL 3000? Please produce the story for competition submission. Examples already covered in the show:

World Issues, World Stories: Every week, DW broadcast a program about human interest and culture contributed by reporters/journalists from all over the world. As a Journalist, do you have a topic about your country that you feel would fit well into WORLD STORIES? All productions and stories must make reference to DW.

Topic 3

Environment: On an annual basis, DW brings together partners and influencers in promoting positive changes and actions for the environment through GLOBAL MEDIA FORUM (http://www.dw.de/global-media-forum/home/s-30956). In your capacity as Journalist, how could you influence your audience/citizens in living a life that contributes to conserving nature? Write/Produce a feature (any angle you choose) to best promote living a life that contributes to conservation.
