Call for Applications: Altlab Writers' Residency (India)
Deadline: 28 January 2013

Goa Center for Alternative Photography is delighted to invite writers to apply to participate in a new ALTlab Photography writers’ residency to be held in Goa-CAP in 2013. The ALTlab Photography writers’ residency will support ONE Indian writer for two months to develop critical and creative writing about Photography. The writer-in-residence will be given an opportunity to learn alternative photographic processes and to produce catalogues and other relevant publications. The residency intends to encourage original critical and creative writing on Photography in India, providing a platform for writers to develop their practice and extend their professional networks.

The writer will be in residence at Goa-CAP along with four other photographer residents coinciding with ALTlab 3.0, for two months in March and April 2013. The residency will also include workshops to nurture concepts in photography and create a discursive environment in which theory, hands-on experience and technical solutions are investigated.

The chosen writer resident has the chance not only to familiarize oneself and learn about history of photography and its historical process, but also to acquire skills to evaluate works of other residents practicing alternative photography; understand their artistic point of views; develop a critical perspective on topics relating to the ALTlab 3.0 residency artists and eventually experiment with new modes of writing.
