Deadline: 23 October 2012
Contest: Write a story idea (around 100 words) for a storybook about rickets. The winner will get Rs. 1500 for the story idea. Final format will look like this: iTunes , TechTools4Mom. Basically, it will be an illustration on each page accompanied by text. Your idea submission obviously does not need to look like this and will only be a short paragraph summarizing your story.
Who can enter: Anyone interested in penning a story about rickets. You can submit any number of entries – Each entry must be a different story idea. The winning writer will be chosen by the Zizira team and the winner will be announced on the forum on 6 November 2012. Once the winner is announced, the contest is closed to submissions.
Things to remember before you submit your entry:
You only need to submit a story idea. You do not have to write the entire script.
The biggest requirement our customer has is that story must be entertaining – This is the key requirement for any Zizira product. The book must not be solely about the message but at the same time, the story must convey the message by weaving it into the narrative. This is what will set it apart from brochures and routine educative material published by the government and NGOs. We are not looking for a fact sheet but for a story that entices kids while the education occurs by osmosis. Do keep in mind that the target audience is kids 5 to 9 years old. And they don’t want to read a book that lists facts.
Usually, kids are fascinated by superheroes, villains, kings, princesses, interesting characters, animal characters, fantasy and a great plot. For instance, our Malaria comic book is about two underprivileged kids who gain superpowers and finally defeat the vicious mosquito army.
If we like your story, we might ask you to send in your ideas on what illustrations could be used to go with your story. Think of this submission as a very basic story outline (maybe 100 words).
