If you are a junior or senior high school student (Grades 11-12) with an interest in East Asia, the Asian Studies Program at Georgetown University invites you to enter our East Asia essay contest this spring for a chance to have Georgetown University publish your essay online. The winning essay will be published on the Asian Studies Program's website as well as featured in The Asian Studies Wire, a weekly online newsletter that reaches hundreds of subscribers in the Georgetown community and the Washington, D.C. area. The contest winner will also receive a $200 cash prize.
TOPIC: Essays may be on the East Asia- related topic of the contestant’s choice.

ESSAYS WILL BE JUDGED ON:
- The depth of research and analysis
- Clarity of argument and supporting details
- Writing style (grammar, citation, vocabulary, etc.)
- Open to U.S. citizens only
- Contestants must be in 11th or 12th grade
- No longer than 15 pages (min. 7 pages)
- Margins between 1-1.5"
- Size 12, Times New Roman font
- Double-spaced
- APA or Chicago style citation only
- Bibliography and cover page not included in length requirement
