The Chinese Star Writing Competition started in 2011, organized by Confucius Institute at the University of Adelaide and Confucius Institute at the University of Western Australia, and supported by the Embassy of China in Australia and Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing. This competition aims to provide a chance for Chinese learners to show their writing ability when the Hanyu Qiao Competition is mainly for speaking skills.
The competition is open to everyone and is divided into two categories: Chinese Star for Adults and Chinese Star for Secondary School Students.
AWARDS:
Winners from this competition will have the priority to be recommended by the Embassy of China in Australia for applying for scholarships to study in China (from 1 university semester to 5 years). The winners who received ‘Chinese Star for Secondary School students’ last year have received scholarships and will go to study in China in 2013 for their gap year.
The First Prize Winners will be invited to participate or observe the 2013 Hanyu Qiao Competition in Australia (in Adelaide for school students, in Perth for university students, air tickets will be paid by the organizers ).

- Not a native speaker of Mandarin or any Chinese dialect.
- Non Chinese citizen.
- Not born nor brought up in China.
