Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Professor in Chinese Language and Literature in the B.A. & B.Ed. (LangEd-Chinese) double degree programme in the School of Chinese, tenable from January 1, 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funding. This appointment is not on the tenure track.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Chinese language and literature or related areas. They should have an established track record of excellence in innovative research and teaching and should demonstrate sophisticated skills in course coordination and curriculum management. The ability to develop and conduct Chinese courses that are consonant with the curricular needs of the programme is required. The capacity to design and deliver courses in Chinese language and classical literature will be an advantage. The appointee will also be expected to perform a wide range of administrative duties and liaison work. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical benefits.
