SIKKIM UNIVERSITY, a Central University is now known for academic excellence and research, inclusive institutional character and a strong instrument of regional development and crossborder integration. The University is trying to bring in the best practices of academic programmes, teaching methods and curriculum designing and management norms from both
within and outside India.

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for the following positions:

DEPARTMENT OF NEPALI LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE:
  • ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (1 post): PhD in Nepali language/literature; publications in reputed and refereed journals, Expertise in Culture Studies/Buddhist Studies/ Strategic Studies/Social /Environmental/Literary studies. Physiicall exposurres tto counttrriies/prroviinces wherre Nepallii llanguage iis spoken and tto communiittiies and knowledge of interdisciplinary area studies. Specialization in any branch of Nepali language and literature including Nepali linguistics and Nepali critical approaches. Strong proficiency in Nepali language.

DEPARTMENT OF ASIAN LANGUAGES (HINDI):
  • PROFESSOR (1 post); ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (1 post): PhD in Hindi language/literature; publications in reputed and refereed journals, Expertise in Culture Studies/ Strategic Studies/Social / Environmental/Literary studies. Knowledge of inter-disciplinary area studies. Specialization in any branch of Hindi language and literature including Hindi linguistics and Hindi critical approaches. Strong proficiency in Hindi language. Interest and ability to promote Hindi language and literature studies in the non-Hindi speaking areas like Sikkim and Darjeeling.
  • ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (2 posts): Strong proficiency in Hindi language, Translation and Interpretation Skills in wide range of topics/areas; in-depth knowledge of different aspects of Hindi literature; Knowledge of religious Texts/ Knowledge of strategic studies/Social /Literary studies. Physical exposures to various Hindi speaking communities and knowledge of inter-disciplinary area studies. Interest and ability to promote Hindi language and literature studies in the non-Hindi speaking areas like Sikkim and Darjeeling.

The application processing fee of Rs 300/- (Rs 150 for SC/ST/DA candidates) is required to be submitted by way of Demand Draft of any scheduled/nationalized bank, drawn in favour of “Sikkim University” payable at Gangtok only. Applications received without the prescribed fee and incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.
