The prestigious Malaysia MICE Journalism Award 2012, a first of its kind in Malaysia is an initiative of Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) in 2012. It is jointly supported by the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI). The Award recognizes and rewards outstanding contributions to MICE or Business Events journalism in Malaysia.
To qualify for the MMJA 2012 all submissions must be published or aired between 15 AUGUST 2011- 30 AUGUST 2012. Entries must reach the secretariat by 5 SEPTEMBER 2012. The Awards ceremony will be held in KUCHING in OCTOBER/ NOVEMBER 2012 (TBC).
AWARD CRITERIA
An independent judging panel will judge entries, looking for responsible, informed and original stories. Entries will also be assessed on the following specific criterias:
Award categories are divided into two (2):
*For print/ online entries, the article should be a minimum of 800 words in length
* For broadcast entries, the report should be a minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 5 minutes in length
JUDGING CRITERION
MICE in Malaysia Category (Best Print/ Online/ Broadcast Feature)
ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPANTS: Professional journalists and writers, who are permanently and/or contractually, employed by print, electronic and online media organisations in Malaysia. Full time journalists working for wires agency are also eligible to participate by virtue of their role as news providers to media organisations in Malaysia. Free-lancers and stringers/part-timers are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate.

- An in-depth outlook on the MICE / Business Events industry in Malaysia
- Helps to increase the awareness and understanding of the MICE / Business
- Events industry
- Is conceptually or visually innovative and creative
- Is well structured, well researched and compelling

- MICE in Sarawak Category (Best Print/ Online/ Broadcast Feature)
- Examines the Business Events industry in a Malaysian context
- Provides useful background material for readers to understand its relevance
- Demonstrates journalistic flair - a style that is engaging, thought-provoking and accessible to its audience

- Receive RM 10,000 to fund travel, accommodation, association membership and convention registration fees to attend any international journalism convention of their choice.
- Receive RM 2,000 in cash
- Finalist 2 & 3 : Receive RM500.00 in cash.

- Receive RM 2,000 in cash
- Finalist 2 & 3 : Receive RM500.00 in cheque each.
