In order to promote scholarship in Classical Tamil, the Central Institute of Classical Tamil proposes to award Doctoral/ Post-Doctoral Fellowships to eligible candidates. The details are as follows.

DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

1. The Doctoral Fellowship includes Rs. 12,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs.12,000/- per annum.

2. The candidate should have registered for Ph.D. in any recognized University or Institute. The evidence of Ph.D. registration should be enclosed.

3. Postgraduate Degree holders with not less than 55 marks in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc. are eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be given relaxation of 5 marks.

4. Subject chosen for Ph.D. thesis should pertain to any area of scholarship relating to the period prior to 6th A.D. Preference will be given to Ph.D. registrants who are working on topics related to Interdisciplinary Subjects, Comparative Dravidian, Language Typology and Translation with special emphasis to the classical period.

5. The candidate should not have exceeded 30 years of age as on 16th August 2012. Age relaxation will be allowed for OBC candidates (3 years) and SC/ST candidates (5 years). In addition to this, age relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority.

6. The evaluation of candidates will be made through a written test followed by an interview.

7. The selection is subject to the reservation policy as applicable.

8. Evidences for Age, Community, Educational Qualifications and Ph.D registration should be enclosed along with the application form without fail. Applications without required enclosures will not be considered. If incorrect or false information is given, the Application will be summarily rejected.

9. A Passport size photo should be pasted in the filled-in Hall Ticket.

10. The Check List must be marked with in the Box and attached with the Application form.

11. The decision of the Director, CICT is final in all matters related to the selection and award of Doctoral Fellowships including the number of fellowships to be given.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

1. The Postdoctoral Fellowship includes award of Rs. 18,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs. 30,000/- per annum.

2. Ph.D. Degree holders in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc. are eligible to apply.

3. Preference will be given to those who are working on inter-disciplinary topics, Comparative Dravidian, Language Typology and Translation with special emphasis to the classical period.

4. The candidate should not have exceeded 40 years of age as on 16th August 2012. Age relaxation will be allowed for OBC candidates (three years) and SC/ST candidates (five years).

5. The evaluation of candidates will be made through a written test followed by an interview.

6. The selection is subject to the reservation policy as applicable.

7. The selected candidates should undertake their research works in the CICT campus only.

8. Evidences for Age, Community and Educational Qualifications should be enclosed along with the application form without fail. Applications without required enclosures will not be considered. If incorrect or false information is given, the Application will be summarily rejected.

9. A Passport size photo should be pasted in the filled-in Hall Ticket.

10. The Check List must be marked with in the Box and attached with the Application form.

11. Scholars who are in regular employment need not apply.

12. Suitability and requirements for the ongoing projects and for the projects to be undertaken in the CICT will be considered in the selection process and the decision of the Director, CICT is final in this regard.

13. The decision of the Director, CICT is final in all matters related to the selection and award of Postdoctoral Fellowships including the number of fellowships to be given.
