Mama Sita’s Sandok at Tinta: A Potful of Kitchen Wisdom is an exciting and creative contest featuring the Philippines’ Culinary Traditions with three categories: Essay Writing, Visual Essay and Audio-Video Essay with the theme of: “Ibahagi ang inyong natatanging kwento sa pagkain at kusina”.

• Two (2) grand winners will be chosen and given a special Mama Sita medal, a cash prize of P20,000, and a short course at a culinary school*!!
• Six (6) Regional winners will be chosen and will receive a special Mama Sita medal, a cash prize of P10,000.**!
• Special Gifts for Your Lola/Lolo/Nanay/Tatay: The subject for your essay*** will receive P5,000 and will be invited to a culinary tour, “Following the Footsteps of Mama Sita.”

WHO CAN JOIN?

• 18 years old and above
• A citizen of the Philippines
• Loves food and the Philippines
• Is creative and artistic

NOVICE CATEGORY

• If your degree or job is NOT in connection with writing and multi media arts
• If you have NOT published, have been recognized or have received an award in connection with writing and multi media arts
• But you are skilful and creative in expressing your ideas in writing or multi media arts

EXPERT CATEGORY

• If you have undergone formal training in writing and multi media arts
• If your degree or job is in connection with writing and multi media arts
• If you have published, have been recognized or have received an award in connection with writing and multi media arts
• But you are skilful and creative in expressing your ideas in writing or multi media arts

HOW TO JOIN?

1. Think of your best-kept culinary tradition, experience or practice.

2. Choose the preferred media where you can best express yourself: Essay Writing, Visual Essay or Audio-Video Essay. You can choose to submit more than one (1) entry.

3. Your entry must be original**** and may be in English or Filipino as long as they comply with the following material lengths and formats:

Essay writing
Length: maximum of 2,000 words
Format: hard copy (typewritten or legibly handwritten) OR soft copy (MS Word or PDF)

Visual Essay
Length: minimum 1 visual art with maximum of 2,000 words that can best explain your art
Format: Actual Visual art with hard copy of words (typewritten or legibly handwritten), OR soft copy of visual art (JPEG, PDF) and words (MS Word or PDF)

Audio/Video Essay
Length: maximum of 10 minutes
Format: (MP4 or WAV)

4. Together with your entry, send the following information:

• Full name
• Complete Address and email address
• Contact number(s)
• Chosen category to which the entry will be qualified (Novice or Expert)

5. Wait for a registered mail, an email and a phone call from us to notify you that you’ve won. We will formally invite you to the awarding ceremony and give you your prize!

• All entries will be rated using just one set of criteria.
• Entries may be published, displayed or exhibited by Marigold Manufacturing Corporation (Mama Sita’s).
• All employees of Marigold Manufacturing Corporation, media partners and their relatives up to second degree of consanguinity are not qualified to join the competition.
• The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

NOTES:

• The term “subject of your essay” is the person who has told a contestant about the culinary best-kept tradition, experience or practice. Together with the winner of the contest, the “subject of your essay” is eligible to win the special gift.
• All entries must be original. Previously published materials will not be accepted. Plagiarism will result to automatic disqualification.
