International Herald Tribune (IHT), global edition of The New York Times is dedicated to quality journalism and reporting of current global issues, helping others to understand the world in which we live. Over the years, we have developed an Educational Program aimed to encourage students to engage in current affairs, understand the types of issues that are relevant to today’s society and develop a sense of global awareness through reliable sources such as reading a daily newspaper like the IHT.

In the Hong Kong Chapter, the Writing Competition, which has taken place for the past 3 years, has received excellent submissions and response from the secondary schools and their students. The students who have taken part always quote it as a great learning experience and that they have benefited from it greatly.

The competition for 2012 “Word (World) of Yours” not only encourages a greater understanding of the world, but also provides students with the opportunity to have their work recognized and published by a renowned international newspaper, in the Hong Kong and China Edition.

“Word (World) of Yours” asks that students write about ‘GLOBAL ECONOMY’. Students should read the IHT in order to grasp an understanding of the types of issues covered by newspapers and journalistic style.
