Malik's Short Story Competition 2012 (Lebanon)

Based on the success of the 2005 story competition, we have decided to re-launch the nationwide short story competition for 2012. This year, the competition will be in two languages: English and Arabic.

Applicants will be divided into three age groups as follow:
  • Category 9-12: 1,500 words maximum
  • Category 13-15: 3,000 words maximum
  • Category 16-18: 5,000 words maximum

The grand prize consists of publishing and printing 1,000 copies of the winning short story for free for each age group and in each language and displaying it for sale in our 21 branches. All proceeds earned from the sles of the winning short story will go to the writer.

GENERAL RULES
  • Story theme: 'In Lebanon'
  • Participants must be school students
  • The short story should be in English and/ or Arabic
  • The short story should discuss the theme decided by Malik's
  • The short story should be written solely by the participant and not taken from any other source
  • Applicants may opt to submit stories in both languages
  • The rights to publish should not have been given and should not be given to any other party except after Malik's approval
  • The submitted short story should not have been already printed or published in any form except after Malik's approval
  • Applicants should be Lebanese residents
  • The short story should not touch on any sectarian, religious, political or immoral themes
  • Deadlines for submitting all short stories is August 31, 2012
  • All short stories should be submitted by e-mail to story@maliks.com
