Guidelines: Submitting Manuscript to Queer Ink (India)
Queer Ink seeks to make LGBTI lives in contemporary India visible by publishing a range of genres and topics that exemplify this vibrant and diverse community. We believe that the publication and distribution of these stories will have a significant impact on strengthening both the LGBTI communities, and giving others the knowledge that they need to understand and accept us.

Queer Ink is most interested in helping spark the literary imaginations of the queer community and redefining LGBTI/Queer literature in India.

We are looking for stories, novels, memoir, creative non-fiction, graphic storytelling, cross-genre, anthology topics and more; that reflect the complexity of Queer India at this historic moment in time.

We welcome submissions and inquiries from both established and first-time authors. Queer Ink is also dedicated to nurturing emerging writers who have a story to tell or have a creative idea for a book. Along with establishing an active forum for writing tips and discussion on this website, we plan to create a series of Queer Ink writing workshops, mentorships and conferences in order to grow a strong Queer writing community in India.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Queer Ink is seeking out both inquiries and manuscript submissions for book projects written by and/or about LGBTI people and topics in contemporary India. We are very interested in innovative proposals and ideas and encourage both established and emerging writers to think out of the box in terms of the types of stories, genres and the kinds of books that can make up Queer Ink’s publishing list, though we are also very interested in traditional stories, novels, and non-fiction books as well.

To submit a book proposal or letter of inquiry, please send a letter that introduces the topic and briefly outlines the author’s project. Also explain the availability of manuscript, and/or suggested completion date, and the manuscript’s tentative length. The cover letter should also contain contact information, relevant biographical information, and previous publication history—if relevant.

Please include a synopsis of the manuscript and two sample chapters with the book proposal.

All prose manuscripts should be double-spaced, and all poetry manuscripts should be single-spaced. All manuscripts should have twelve-point font.

Do keep the original of your work and post or courier a hard copy to:
