For English Language Educators in India: British Council's Continuing Professional Development Story Competition
Deadline: 30 June 2012

Continuing Professional Development signifies the process of continuing growth of a professional after joining the profession.

Dr Amol Padwad and Krishna Kalyan Dixit, in their recent Continuing Professional Development – An Annotated Bibliography published by the British Council in 2011, define CPD as: ‘ … a planned, continuous and lifelong process whereby teachers try to develop their personal and professional qualities, and to improve their knowledge, skills and practice, leading to their empowerment, the improvement of their agency and the development of their organisation and their pupils.’

WHAT’S YOUR STORY?

Are you an English language teacher or English language teacher educator who is committed to learning and developing?

Can you pinpoint a particular experience that has contributed to your professional development?

Want to be a part of the upcoming CPD Symposium in New Delhi in November 2012?

Then take part in our exciting Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Story Competition…..

We are looking for teacher and teacher educator stories which highlight how different professional development opportunities impact on our own learning and development, and subsequently the learning and development of the people around us. They should answer these key questions:
  • Briefly describe the CPD activity you took part in.
  • How did it affect you? What did you learn and how did you change your practice as a result?
  • How did this affect your learners or colleagues?
  • What have you done since then to further develop in this area?

WINNING ENTRIES SHOULD:
  • cover the points above
  • be written in an engaging and exciting style
  • demonstrate understanding of definition of CPD
  • be submitted by practising English language teachers or teacher educators

Please complete the application form and send it to us at englishcompetitions@in.britishcouncil.org marking CPD Competition in the subject line, no later than Saturday 30 June 2012
