The Advanced and International Japanese Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal that aims to promote an open debate through publishing cutting edge academic research in the area of Japanese studies conducted from a cross-national perspective (encompassing politics, economics, media, culture, society, language, fine arts, and literature).

It is published annually by the International and Advanced Japanese Studies Program, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba.

The editorial board of Advanced and International Japanese Studies is currently seeking manuscripts for the 2012-2013 issue to be published in spring 2013. The deadline for submissions is August 31st, 2012.

Papers must be written in either Japanese or English. The limit for papers written in Japanese is 20,000 characters, and for papers written in English is 7,000 words.
