Call for Authors: Cultural Encyclopedia of Weird and Exotic Customs from Around the World
The editor of the "Cultural Encyclopedia of Weird and Exotic Customs from around the World" is seeking contributors for this reference work to be published by ABC-CLIO, a leading publisher of reference materials in the United States.

This one-volume encyclopedia is focused on traditions and customs that might seem unusual, weird, or exotic to typical American students. These are events related to birth practices, coming of age, courtship/marriage, death rituals, holidays (both religious and non-religious), rites of passage, festivals, sports, food, and daily customs. Its global perspective reflects traditions of people from the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, Oceania, the Middle East, and North/Central/South America. Each entry will consist of an overview of the origins of the custom and where it takes place, as well as an explanation of how and why the custom is practiced.

For each entry, we offer writing credit, access to the published e-book, and sometimes a modest honorarium. There is a wide range of entries still available (500, 1000, and 1500 words). Contributors who write multiple entries might also receive a printed copy of the encyclopedia.

If you are interested in writing one or more entries, please contact the editor (Javier A. Galván) for a list of available entries, word count, deadlines, and writing guidelines. Emerging scholars are especially encouraged to contact the editor, since this is a great opportunity to get published with a well-established reference publisher. When contacting the editor, please attach a brief CV.
