HONG KONG: FISHERIES JOURNALISM CONSULTANT
The Fisheries Journalism Consultant will manage the Fisheries Journalism project, based in Hong Kong. Please note: This is a consultant position.
Scope of Work:
- Managing a Fellowship project that would bring Chinese journalists to the Seafood Summit being held in Hong Kong the first week in September, with presence required in Hong Kong from Sept 4th through Sept 11th, 2012;
- Work with support staff in China to help recruit and select the journalists;
- Design a curriculum for the project that would include a one-day pre-conference training, daily informal briefings with the participating Fellows and their participation in field trips;
- Mentor the Fellows during the course of the summit, advising them on good stories, angles and contacts they can pursue;
- Work with support staff in China who will be arranging for the Fellows’ travel to/from Hong Kong and also handle administration, logistics and book-keeping during the summit;
- Work with support staff to collect the stories produced by the Fellows;
- Work full time on the week-long project, requiring the manager to be on site in Hong Kong no later than Sept 4th.
- Write a brief report about the project once it is completed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in project management
- Experience in media development and/or environmental issues. (Experience with both a plus)
- Experience working in China a plus
- Experience working on Fisheries or Marine/Oceans issues a plus
- Ability to work part-time over the summer of 2012 and to work full-time in Hong Kong from Sept 5th to Sept 11th, 2012
