Participates in a Content Operations team and assists in preparation of data for publishing legal and regulatory products in print and/or electronic form. The primary focus at this level is training, requiring extensive supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

4 year college degree with emphasis in English, journalism, communications or literature preferred or high school level education with five plus years of relevant experience. Prior writing and editing experience beneficial. Strong English language skills, including college level vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and grammar and sentence structure. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and/or external contacts.Skilled in the use of personal computers and familiarity with multiple software packages, including word processing and file management applications. Ability to prioritize and stay focused while dealing with multiple assignments.Detail-oriented with an aptitude for analysis and problem solving on an individualized level and within the context of a team environment. Ability to successfully work in a team environment.Familiarity with legal terminology and court, legislative, and regulatory levels are desirable. Previous publishing experience is a plus. Normal office hours and environments, extensive reading and exposure to personal computers, extra hours may be required to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize and stay focused while dealing with multiple assignments and tasks.

  • Ability to work with team members, contacts from other teams, departments, virtual and off-site teams/vendors or sourcing partners effectively.

DESKTOP PUBLISHING BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE
  • Background/degree in print management, graphic design, publishing or related concentration (2-4 year degree or equivalent experience)
  • Mac OS (in addition to Windows)
  • Software applications: Experience using desktop publishing software, with vector-based applications the primary concern (e.g. Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia FreeHand), preferred Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat); Other software that may be relevant: Macromedia(Adobe) FreeHand, QuarkXPress, Adobe PageMaker
  • Other desirable experience: Font Management software, Color-management systems
  • Electronic workflows for print publishing: Understanding of prepress setups and requirements for print and finishing processes
