Plethora of books and a bulk of critical anthologies have been published worldwide by researchers, academia, and critics since Naipaul and Rushdie were awarded the Booker Prize in 1971 and 1981 respectively for their respective works— In A Free State and Midnight’s Children.
However, the present volume will look for the scholarly, authentic and unpublished papers and articles on the same in the light of the latest theoretical framework that have been, we think, overlooked by Indian academia. It is a big hiatus and the lacuna is— globalization and cosmopolitanism.
THEMATIC FOCUS OF THE VOLUME:
Globalization involves the movement of capital across borders, dissolution of nation-state borders (in economic, of not geographic terms) and it collapses all the existing geo-political boundaries created by human beings. But the writers of Indian diaspora negotiating the various “cultures of the world” and taking the visa of being cosmopolitan after having passport from India. Naipaul’s journey of travelogues begins right from The Middle Passage (1962), the first book length work of non-fiction, which encapsulates the journey of five major postcolonial societies, to The Masque of Africa (2010) which produces the ‘glimpse of African Belief’ via India to see the “ darkness”, “wounded civilization” and “million mutinies”.
Rushdie’s exuberant narrative and his far-ranging thematic development of alienation, exile, political strife, and the dehumanizing effects of popular culture have displayed his mixed critical and creative perspective on the contemporary global issues—Kashmir issue, Babri masque demolition in India or 9/11 attacks in the USA.
PROPOSED PUBLISHER:
A renowned publisher will publish the volume with an ISBN (International Standard Book Number).
EDITING REQUIREMENTS:
• Paper size: A4, Font & size: Times New Roman 12, Spacing: 1.5 lines, Margin of 1 inch on all four sides.
• Title of the paper: bold, Sentence case (Capitalize each word), centered.
• Text of the paper: justified. Font & size: Times New Roman 12.
• References: Please adhere to the MLA style Seventh Edition (Only Author-Date or Number System) strictly. Don’t use Foot Notes, Use End Notes
• Titles of books: Italics.
• Titles of articles from journals and books: “quoted”.
• Articles should be submitted as MS Word 2007 or 2010 attachments only.
• The paper should not usually exceed 15 pages maximum, 12 pages minimum in 1.5 lines spacing.
MODE OF SUBMISSION:
Each contributor is advised to send full paper with brief bio-note, declaration and abstract as a single MS-Word 2007 email attachments to my email addresses: tiwari.janmejaya@gmail.com & kcajay79@gmail.com up to 15th July 2012.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
All submissions will be sent for blind peer reviewing. Final selection will be made only if the papers are approved for publication by the referees. The details of the selection of your paper will be referred to you telephonically or on your email. The executive editor has the right to make indispensable expurgation of selected papers for the sake of conceptual clarity and structuring. Non-selected papers will not be sent back to the donor in any form. So, all contributors are counseled to keep a copy of their submission with them. Each contributor will get a free complimentary copy from editors.
