Job Opening: Web Content Producer for Northwestern University in Qatar

The web producer will work closely with communication and other editorial team members, and will be expected to bring both fresh ideas and an intense focus on organization and detail.

The Web Content Producer, Qatar will be responsible for maintaining and developing NU-Q’S overall web presence, which will require a combination of technical and editorial skill. This includes but is not restricted to two main areas:
  • Content - Production, management, distribution, and tracking of multimedia content on the website, social, and other web-based applications.
  • Technical development and maintenance - Developing and maintaining functionality of website to service the needs of various NUQ stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities:

CONTENT
  • Manages all content development and integration for NU-Q’s digital presence. This includes general website maintenance and upkeep; Considers new strategies to improve the user experience on the website and other digital applications;
  • Produces and curates content for web and other NU-Q digital presence in accordance with NU-Q editorial strategy and policies;
  • Writes and edits articles and other web-based copy;
  • Monitors, engages, and reports on content related to NU-Q’s mission, such as media industry news, media studies, regional developments;
  • Updates the website and social media with originally-produced and curated multimedia content;
  • Develops and executes content in coordination with NU-Q communications team and agencies;
  • Establishes and implements NU-Q policies and style guides for digital content and design;
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive social media strategy;

TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE
  • Manages technical aspects of web maintenance and functionality;
  • Works with faculty, staff, and students to find effective ways to give NU-Q activities a strong digital presence that fits the individual needs of various stakeholders;
  • Responsible for posting of all material in timely, accurate manner;
  • Tracks analytics of web, social, and other digital products;
  • Liaises with third party vendors such as designers, content providers, and hosting services.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, information technology or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired;
  • Three to five years of web and multimedia content production, communication, and project development experience;
  • Three years of experience implementing social media, email, interactive or other digital communication campaigns;
  • Excellent editorial and design judgment;
  • Proven writing and editing for the web;
  • Fluency with content management systems;
  • Project management and excellent organization skills;
  • Mastery of SEO, web and social analytics tools;
  • Familiarity with content delivery and distribution platforms;
  • Ability to work constructively in a fast-paced team environment a must.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent editorial and design judgment;
  • Proven writing and editing for the web;
  • Fluency with content management systems;
  • Project management and excellent organization skills;
  • Mastery of SEO, web and social analytics tools;
  • Familiarity with content delivery and distribution platforms;
  • Ability to work constructively in a fast-paced team environment a must;
  • Knowledge of video production, especially editing;
  • Knowledge of photography and photo manipulation;
  • Proficiency with HTML editing tools and other front-end web design technologies;
  • Bilingual English and Arabic (especially written) a plus.
